Looking for jesus according to John

  • In John 1:1 Jesus is called the Word (3 times), it is said that in the beginning he was with God and he was God or a god or of divine origin!

  • John 1:2 says that Jesus was with God in the beginning!

  • John 1:3 says that Jesus participated in the whole creation and nothing was made without him!

  • John 1:4 says that Jesus is life and the light of men!

  • John 1:5 says he shines in the darkness and darkness has not overcome it!

  • John 1:6,7 says that John the Baptist was sent as a witness to testify about Jesus so that everyone might believe in him!

  • John 1:9 says Jesus is the true light who was coming into the world!

  • John 1:10 says the world did not recognize him!

  • John 1:16 says we receive grace from him!

  • John 1:17 says grace and truth came through Jesus Christ!

  • John 1:18 calls Jesus the begotten god, the only one who has seen God who is at the Father’s side and he has made him known!

  • John 1:19-23 says that John the Baptist was not the Christ but he was sent to prepare his way according to Isaiah!

  • In John 1:32, John the baptist says he saw the Spirit (Pneuma) descending from heaven like a dove and resting on Jesus!

  • In John 1:33, John the Baptist says that the One who sent him to baptize with water told him that the man who would receive the Spirit (Pneuma) would baptize with Holy spirit (en hagio Pneumati)!
