Galatians 1:13-14 King James Version (KJV)
13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:
14 And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

13 For you have heard about my former way of life in [traditional] Judaism — how I did my best to persecute God’s Messianic Community and destroy it; 14 and how, since I was more of a zealot for the traditions handed down by my forefathers than most Jews my age, I advanced in [traditional] Judaism more rapidly than they did.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
13 People knew of Paul’s past which could have prevented him from wanting to serve the Lord did not let it discourage him but gave him more of a reason to serve the Lord. Paul was the highest religious part of the Jews, the Pharisees was the strictest and Paul was one of the strictest of them. Paul hated the church prior to coming to the Lord back when he was Saul he was changed completely. As Saul he wanted to stop the church but now as Paul he did even greater effort to grow the church because now it was God effort working thru Paul instead of Saul doing his own effort.
14 It does not matter where we have been, it never should keep us from serving the Lord, it should give us more motivation. We should want to serve the Lord because of what He has brought us thru and Him being there for us, and Him accepting us and loving us even though we were who we were and because He loved us enough to change us for the better.
