10 Virgins- Rapture and Salvation

Matthew 25 New International Version (NIV)
The Parable of the Ten Virgins

25 “At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. 4 The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. 5 The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

6 “At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’

7 “Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’

9 “‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’

10 “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.

11 “Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’

12 “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’

13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

Now relate this to the 6th and 7th churches in Revelation.

And remember, in the Bible all oil used this way is the Holy Spirit. As in the lampstands.

The sixth church has the oil but the seventh does not. The sixth church is raptured. The seventh church is cast into the tribulation.

As today we have true Christians and false Christians. Apostasy.

The 10 virgins made free will choices. The churches of revelation make free will choices.

There is no room for Calvinism in this.

CoreIssue, your leaps of interpretation are interesting and might be true. But why is there "no room for Calvinism in this." Why do you make that statement?

because of freewill
As a Calvinist, I say it this way. I don't like the word "freewill," because we are never completely free to decide this or that. What I mean is that our decisions are always limited by our circumstances. Rather, I prefer to say that we are completely responsible for all we decide, feel, and think in life before our divine Judge. Another way to say it is that God created us to fully depend on him as his created beings but are also made to be relatively independent of him with full responsibility for all our actions.

Calvinism isn't biblical
Calvinism believes both that God has his plans for his creation and that humans have full responsibility for their lives, according to the Bible. Thus, God is not to blame for any of humans' actions, while they are.

Joseph says it well to his brothers, who had sold him into slavery,
Gen 45:5 And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.
Gen 45:6 For the famine has been in the land these two years, and there are yet five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvest.
Gen 45:7 And God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors.

I can't imagine why anybody would want to be a Calvinist. Between them and the Fundamentalist, they are the most offensive of all Christians.

no, Calvinism says God is responsible for who is and isn't saved.
Yes, because the Bible says so, we Calvinists believe that God chooses who will be saved before creation, but he doesn't choose who is lost. Instead, he passes them by, letting them go the way they want to for an eternity without him.

God could save everyone. Why he doesn't is a mystery, because he hasn't revealed that very good reason to us. He is not responsible for the lost, because they are responsible due to their bad choices.

@Ben There, how many Calvinists do you really know personally? I'm one. Perhaps, someone's negative opinion of us has swayed you. What has made you so negative toward us anyway?
