Ephesians 5:24-26
KJV 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
YLT 24 but even as the assembly is subject to Christ, so also are the wives to their own husbands in everything. 25 The husbands! love your own wives, as also the Christ did love the assembly, and did give himself for it, 26 that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it with the bathing of the water in the saying,
These are my thoughts, please share yours.
24 Wives are to be under husbands authority just as the church is under the Lord’s authority, this does not mean they are less important then the man or to be mistreated, they are to be loved and valued. Women are to be under the husband’s authority as a result of the fall, it is part of the curse but with God this can become a blessing to the man and woman.
25 With the love Jesus has for the church, this is a condition no man may truly ever meet but the point they are to strive for, loving their wife as much as they can but remember the love of the Lord is to come first and the wife second, Jesus loved the Father more then the church and by this He loved the church more, husbands can love their wife more by loving God first.
26 This is such a pure holy love, it’s the saving love, this will be so dear to the woman’s heart that she would follow his authority as he follows God.
