Had to give making a toboggan a try, from tree to sled.
Not quite done yet but a good start.

It was a learn as ya go project, i used birch which has to many knots and it split out in the bends.
This oone will be the experimental model.
If i make another it will be out of ash which takes bending better and i`ll build a steamer.

Had to cut off part of the curl on the front due to split out but it is a usable sled for the first try.

    Looks good ... :D

Steaming gets the wood hotter me thinks ... ... and therefore more flexible ...?

I'm wondering if you do the bending in the shop out of the bitter cold ... ;) ... it might stay limber longer ...

We ended up doing the bending in the garage, also heated the log we bent it around .
First bending attempt was a failure
