In your view, what was/is the core theme of the Old Testament?
Definition of Theme
Theme is defined as a main idea or an underlying meaning of a literary work, which may be stated directly or indirectly.
Definition of Theme
In contemporary literary studies, a theme is a central topic a text treats.[1] Themes can be divided into two categories: a work's thematic concept is what readers "think the work is about" and its thematic statement being "what the work says about the subject".[2] Themes are often distinguished from premises.
Definition of theme
1a: a subject or topic of discourse or of artistic representation
guilt and punishment is the theme of the story
b: a specific and distinctive quality, characteristic, or concern
the campaign has lacked a theme

In reading the Old Testament, what do you believe the core theme was and for what purpose was it written-?

Promise of salvation by the future blood of Christ.
I personally don’t believe Jesus died for our sins. The way I remember it, during this time period Jesus was teaching to whoever would listen to failings of Judaism and pointed out a better path. The Rabbis at the time convinced the Romans to crucify Jesus and by doing so the local Rabbis would support the Roman rule. The Romans complied and peace was restored.

What is the theme of the Old Testament? Now that would be the message of the narrative, or the lesson inherent in the plot. I remember when I was taking philosophy in college, I had this one political science teacher who was just a total Fabian, like sorry to be so personal, but what a fop. Modernist philosophy coming out of the Napoleonic academies and leading up to Hitler's Germany was trying to rub out nationalism, so that was a big part of attacks on the Bible by people like Marx and Nietzsche. Having read it, I guess the actual printed record in a physical copy of the Bible is pretty much a nationalist history, but having said that the word nationalist itself is a modernist term. You could probably argue that in the Bible, only Israel really qualifies as a national at all, something like Babylon seems to be a atavist reactionary throwback of a bunch of multilingual post City of Ur and tower of Babel people all pretending to be one country together, even though God had scattered them. Medio Persia was just an alliance of up and comers against a powerful city state, and even though Greece and Rome were linguist and racially homogenous, they still had idols or statues and more than one god apiece. So in that since, with Israel being the only country in the book that even has subject or citizen parameters for membership (not to mention the religious laws) I guess that school was right and the Bible is kind of political in places, but obviously that's not the religiously transcendent meaning or most important theme, if I remember my literature class the right way.
It's like you'd have to say, you cant have politics in the Bible because of the first amendment, and anyway Politics is just a book by Aristotle that describes the structure of the Greek state, which has little to do with anything, and it doesn't give a history of Greek rulers actions like the Bible does of Israeli rulers actions. But nested in that action, the overall theme, the higher message, is all about God intervening in human affairs.

The Bible is a history of the relationship between man and God. From Adam to Moses it was a one on one relationship of a person and God. There was only man. Mosaic law man was divided into two and Gentile and a covenant was established between God and Israel. The purpose was to be an example to the world and prepare for the coming of Jesus and the fulfilling of the covenant. From the cross to the rapture is the blood covenant, where Jew and Gentile still exist but in a covenant of one on one. From the rapture to the End of time is the covenant to the house of Judah and Israel, where Jesus will physically rule the world. Then there will be no more covenants, just judgment. The saints will be eternally united with God in the new Jerusalem on the new earth where there will be no sin. Lost will be eternally confined in the lake of fire where they can cause no trouble.

In eternal reality, there was a time of just God. Then God with the Angels. Then the earth was created and populated pre-Adamic. When that was destroyed God remade the earth during the six days. Then to today has been dispensations of how God deals with man. The last dispensation is the millennial kingdom, after which this earth and heavens will be remade and restored to its original condition for eternity. One heaven and one earth on which God will reside with the saints.

The world is full of Socialist calling themselves Christians but they fail the test .
That one really causes problems. The Christian view is that Jesus is a savior for all mankind, and at first if you don't know the background of writers like Marx and Engles, you can think oh, Saint Paul once said that in Christ there's no slave or free, Jew or Gentile, and in this one there's no nationality or wealth, race and so on. The differences can be particular and really technical, for example the Bible addresses money as legitimate, and there are passages that talk about what it's worth and what it's not worth. Marxism just wants to destroy Smith's notion of the watermark of temporal civilization by getting rid of currency and trade altogether, as well as private property.

One has to learn the difference between spiritual and physical. We live in both worlds, each impacting the other.

Jesus died under very complex and oppressive circumstances. I think the linguistic formulation, "Jesus died for your sins", is imperfect myself. The message of the narrative is that Jesus was innocent. He died BECAUSE of politics and betrayal, what did he die for, well if you really research, one really republican answer would be to say "nothing", because the message of the tale is that he was innocent. But you're supposed to think it's more important then THAT, obviously, Rome might have been out to crucify you too, just because you were in their way. And you weren't planning on dying for nothing yourself, were you?

Jesus died for your sins is exactly why he came. Yes there were politics and religious corruption. But by far was the simple nature of sinful man inherited from Adam. To pay for those sins a perfect man had to die in our place.

False. If Jesus' dying had "paid for our sins" in and of itself, there would be no need to either repent or pay attention to what he taught and follow the law.

You do not understand salvation. It requires faith and surrender to God per the Gospel. No one is saved by Law or works.

in the Old Testament the CORE theme that the prophets were making

was that the Jews were to be clean.

This was the Physical aspect and health orbit of theme throughout the Old Testament....

The cleaning of pots, pans, vessels, Washing, BATHING Every Single time after SEX, Washing after touching Dead People or animals. Keeping away from other people if You touch a Dead ROTTING Animal. Making sure to Mary a virgin or a widow. No sex with Animals. No gay sex.

'When any man at all - has a discharge from his body, His discharge is unclean.

And whoever touches his bed shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, Whoever sits on anything that is unclean shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and bathe his body in running water ........ 'If any man has an emission of semen, then he shall wash all his body in water, and be unclean until evening. And any garment and any leather on which there is semen, it shall be washed with water.................'If a woman has a discharge, and the discharge from her body is blood - everything that she sits on shall be unclean. the LAW was to --- ___ ** separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness, lest they die in their uncleanness. Don't Eat bats, Lions, Cats, Rats, Eel, stingray, and catfish fishes with no fins and scales) Snakes. Don't Eat Raw Blood. the Point of punishment for BLOOD CRIMES>

The law of Moses, Punished People for Committing BLOOD CRIMES against Others. Creating Diseases, Birth Defects, and Plagues. Today People Run Wild, INFECTING Millions. .......God Did not put up With this. the actors were punished and the Disease, infections, and Danger to Innocent Lives and People Following the LAW were safe. Water supplies, Food Supplies and All Cooking and Daily Living was Safe.

This is the entire purpose and theme of Gods law. ___ _ - REMEMBER- THEIR BLOOD BE UPON THEM.

BLOOD CRIMES ARE REAL.

Even if You or I do not believe in a deity – we can still read The Bible Stories and see what they were dealing with and what they had to do to survive and keep from being infected with widespread diseases, plagues and symptoms.

This was the Core theme of the Old Testament.

The New Testament is focused on delivering salvation to the gentiles - an offering and opportunity for Gentiles to be grafted into the family tree of Abraham = in a theme orbiting upon a spiritual adoption of gentiles to accept the theme of the Old Testament and the Blood atonement of The Anointing - Yahashua.

The Holy Spirit shed his own blood to save all whom will accept the CORE THEME OF THE OLD TESTAMENT and pursue - A SPIRITUAL ACCEPTANCE OF THE LORD YAHASHUA THE ANOINTING .
