Galatians 4:8-10 King James Version (KJV)

8 Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.

9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

10 Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.

Galatians 4:8-10 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

8 In the past, when you did not know God, you served as slaves beings which in reality are non-gods. 9 But now you do know God, and, more than that, you are known by God. So how is it that you turn back again to those weak and miserable elemental spirits? Do you want to enslave yourselves to them once more? 10 You observe special days, months, seasons and years!

There are my thoughts, please share yours.

8 The most common thing they served was their self, their wants, their flesh. When the flesh leads us it leads us down a road that broadens, and the sins we seek increase. We slaves of their passions; the gods they served often times represented these passions.

9 We know God as Christians but we are different because He knows us. Paul is asking why they would go back to these ways after the Lord knows them. We have the Lord we don’t need to fall to the gods of this world because we have the true and only God. God because us strong this world makes us weak.

10 We do not need have to observe days but we are to make every day for the Lord. Paul is not against celebrating days because he did this but, he is saying that it does not make anyone better with the Lord by doing so. We are to our celebration not in a day but the Lord.
