Galatians 2:12 King James Version (KJV)

12 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

The nations mean the Gentiles. James ate with the Gentiles which were not done because of him being Jewish, clean they saw Gentiles as unclean, and most likely the food they ate. The Gentiles would let James eat with them but James would do the same for them, James wanted to please his friends instead of doing what is right. James because of this would not be the one God would call to share the gospel with the nations.

Israel was chosen to be light to the world. But, as the Bible describes it, the put his light under a basket to hide it from the world.

Israel remembered they were chosen but forget the reason why. They became arrogant and self righteous.

They added laws and rules for themselves that further elevated them in their own eyes.

We see far too much of this today in many so-called churches.
